REAL ESTATE
by Jim Coleman, REALTOR®
REAL ESTATE AND THE CHRISTMAS STORY HAVE MUCH IN COMMON
Everyone has his or her own perspective about Christmas: whether it is spiritual enough or whether or not it is too commercialized; if there are too many parties or whether it brings thoughts emotional and devotional. But has it occurred to you that there would not be a Christmas without the involvement with real estate? After all remember, real estate includes the land and all that is attached or affixed to it. We understand various types and aspects of real estate today, but have you thought about how real estate was part of the first Christmas?
When Joseph made the trip from his place of residence (real estate) to his native land of Bethlehem (real estate) with Mary, his wife being great with child, the trek covered many miles of real estate. We do not know where they may have stayed during the journey. But the story tells that there was no room for them in the inn (real estate) when the couple sought a place of lodging when they arrived at the city of their destination that famous night known as the Savior's birth.
The record tells of shepherds abiding in the field (real estate) keeping watch over their flock. They made their way to behold the glorious birth event. When wise men came to Jerusalem (real estate) seeking the birth place (real estate) of a new born king, their consultations occurred with authorities at places of real estate. When they continued their search for the child, they found him with his mother in a house (real estate).
Today, many peoples of the earth of various cultures, nationalities and religions reverence and celebrate this time of year as the birth of the Son of God, the Redeemer of all mankind. With this grand occasion come festivities, celebrations and worship services (at or in places of real estate) of significance.
Traditions have been passed down through the ages. A noteworthy part of this season is that associated with a jolly ole soul known by many as St Nicholas or Santa Claus. Now if we give due respect and attention to this tradition, there is more to see of the tie with Christmas and real estate. After all, Santa's dwelling play at the North Pole is quite the real estate center. This is not only where many workers known as Elves take up living (real estate), but it is said to be quite the work shop of commercial endeavor (real estate).
Now when Santa makes his appearance to those who have been nice, it involves a stop at their various places of residence (real estate). When he lands his sleigh and rain deer on roof tops (real estate) and soundlessly enters down chimneys (or other places of entrance) (real estate), his delivery is one of great anticipation. Sometimes he is known to leave tracks in the yards (real estate) of peopleās residences evidencing his grand visitation. Some times, it is purported that the rain deer are pastured (real estate) in the off season at world locations on a rotation basis, depending upon their metabolic needs and weather conditions. But Santa and his operation have endured well the habitation and implementation of the Christmas experience from the famous, yet un-located North Pole establishment (real estate).
Back to Joseph and Mary: When they were unable to obtain lodging in the inn, the record says that Mary "brought forth her firstborn son . . . and laid him in a manger" (real estate). Here, the shepherds found the babe. This glorious birth of all births draws the hearts and minds world wide with an effect of unification and profound acceptance and tolerance and a love now known to reflect that which this babe characterized in his later life. In this day of trying times, when so many are beset with difficulties, when, to follow the thought of real estate stitched throughout this column finds mixed involvement and affect, in conclusion, it is wished hereby for all to have a Great and Happy New Year.
